We love the Longfellow Grill. They always have new and interesting items on their menu or specials menu. But recently it's becoming cost prohibitive to take my family there for supper. Visited on Saturday morning with family and we all had a wonderful meal. My wife had a traditional dish with eggs and hash browns. The rest of us had breakfast burritos and farmers breakfast as well as a waffle.

Drinks are extra and somewhat pricey, Great place with a nice vibe in St Paul. Highly recommend breakfast tostadas or spinach frittata. Busy place but did not have to wait for a table at 10am. We arrived around pm on Sunday evening and enjoyed our experience. I had eaten here one other time with my kids, but that was breakfast, and it was a great experience.

My husband had never been and he ordered the featured steak salad. He thought A friend in Minneapolis took us here on our first night and everyone had a great meal.

So recently my daughter and I stopped in for lunch on a busy Sat.My grandmother used to make pierogi when we were kids. After she died inI picked up the tradition of serving pierogi for Christmas and Easter. Now, my brothers and my own children and nieces and nephews and I make about 12 dozen for our holiday meal. While we work, we have fun reminiscing about Grandma and the old days.

Although pierogi are not hard to make, they are VERY time consuming. I have simplified the process by making the dough in my KitchenAid mixer, but the final kneading and rolling are still done by hand.

The best part about serving pierogi is watching the faces of everyone who eats them — they seem to be in another time and another place and very happy and satisfied. Although pierogi can be filled with any number fillings, potato is among our family favorites. To make potato filling: Mix together mashed potatoes, sauteed onions, salt and cheese.

Chill overnight. Note: Add more water, 1 tablespoon at a time, if necessary. Let rest for 10 minutes.

To roll out dough: Divide dough into 3 equal pieces. Roll first piece thin. Note: Keep remaining pieces covered to avoid drying out. Cut rolled dough into 6 circles, 3 inches in diameter.

Place 1 rounded teaspoon potato filling in center. Fold dough over filling, making half circle. Moisten inside edges. Press together to firmly seal and prevent filling from escaping when cooking.
